Dessi Petrova

Copyright and DP Adviser

Copyright and Compliance Officer, British Library

I am a copyright and data protection professional with particular experience in archival digitisation, policy research, genealogy, due diligence, and picture research. I have worked on a number of archival digitisation projects (commercial and non-commercial) and advised on numerous others.

My particular research interests are:

1. policy gaps for archival digitisation unaddressed by contemporary copyright law

2. 1910s-1991 Eastern Bloc, Soviet, and Central Asian printed news media and its contemporary copyright status, and

3. what is disturbing content in the historical perspective and how can it be published digitally for educational purposes.

I am an art historian by education with BA University of Glasgow (2016) and MA SOAS (2017) with emphasis on Chinese traditional painting. In my spare time I enjoy practising photography, researching and listening to music, reading, and generally not doing anything at all.
